Saccharine Trust was great - Pagan Icons remains a favorite recording.
And what can you say about Black Flag? Other than the power went out in the middle of TV Party.
So Henry played it again. They were amazing. Afterwards I spoke with Chuck Dukowski who was
exhausted from doing calisthenics with a Fender Precision.
Later, as I sipped a beer someone slapped me on the back - hard. I turned around and
Henry shook my hand. He was working the crowd...one at a time.

A letter from Terry Kath of Chicago. Terry later shot himself, i
allegedly by accident ("it isn't loaded"). A great loss...

Johnny Thunders came to Michigan in 1978 to quit drugs.
It didn't work but while there he hooked up with Wayne Kramer and I saw them play
the VFW post (now the Seva restaurant).

Toledo, Ohio -- 1973.
Picture Iggy in black underwear, black velvet bow tie and long black gloves.
Tommy Bolin, who replaced Joe Walsh fronting the James Gang, complete with feathers
jutting out of his hat as he soloed on Standing In The Rain.
Noddy Holder of Slade wearing a tophat with round mirrors glued on it.
Every time he turned his head beams of light shot out.
Now imagine paying $4.50. I shit you not.

Ann Arbor, Michigan -- 1979.
This was taped to the back of the photo of Johnny Thunders.
It's a miracle I didn't lose it over the years.
When I asked Thunders for his autograph, he said - in his high pitched nasal voice:
"Yeah, sure, why not?"

Kent, Ohio -- 1974.
My first protest - at a place called Kent State, four years after the murders.
Holly Near sang. It would be 30 years before I heard her sing again - at Union Square.
She sounds the same or better. I love Holly.

Atlanta -- 1983(?)
The Restraints - no idea what they sounded like (out of memory).
But 688 was a great club in Atlanta. Reminiscent of Bookies Club 870 in Detroit, but bigger.

Toledo, Ohio -- 1977.
I saw Sammy Hagar and Montrose in 1974 (2/26/74) when they opened for Spooky Tooth and Humble Pie.
All around great show. Wish I could remember more of it ;-)
Four years later I saw Sam again - after he went solo. He played Cobo Hall in Detroit and was terrific.
And so I wrote to him, typing the letter in red ink as that is his color.
To my surprise, he wrote back...years later he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
(with Eddie Van Halen). During the ceremony he played People Have The Power with Patti Smith. Yes!

New York -- 2009.
Tito was in town to campaign for Debi Rose...he dug my son's "Kreator"
t-shirt and so he signed a promo shot for us. He is a great guy and a metalhead.
Tito told us he played drums for Sepultura on one of their early tours
(their drummer couldn't get a visa).
